#3 On The Way… “Are You Gettin’ a Minivan?”
About 50% of the time, when I’m congratulated by folks on the upcoming birth of our third child, I’m asked the proverbial question, “So, are you guys getting a minivan?” I laugh to myself, thinking… you really don’t know me very well, do you?! No, we won’t be getting a minivan. Ever. If you’re into a minivan, go for it. I’ll pass, thanks.
Although I won’t buy a minivan, I roll on the floor every time I see the following video. Way too funny to not share. Maybe it’s only funny to parents, who knows. I hope you enjoy it, in your swagger wagon.

HAHAHA!! Wow. That’s us – ‘cept with a quite used Windstar instead of a covetable Sienna (wow did I just say another minivan was “covetable”). We “minivanned” barely two weeks before our third got here. My wife hates minivans, and when I’m finished with law school that’s the FIRST thing getting replaced.
So that’s the only “proverbial question” you’re being asked the “other” 50% of the time with a 3rd baby on the way? Wait till you have a fourth on the way and the ugly glares come like you’re single-handedly overpopulating the world. Love this child-and-sacrifice-loving culture.
So will you be headed to the SUV route?
Yeah, whatcha gonna get, yo?
Erin/Matt… I haven’t decided definitively yet on what the next vehicle will be. I know it’ll be an 8-seater of some sort and 4×4. We have a Chevy Avalanche now, which is a hybrid truck/SUV = SUT, which can handle 3 car seats in the back. Our sedan can’t. So, I’m thinking Suburban/Yukon, but we’ll have to see. What do you guys drive, and do you like it/them?
We roll 5 deep in the Mazda 5. It was the most compact w/3rd row, most efficient, most affordable, somewhat fun (available manny tranny!) and the sportiest, most non-minivan looking minivan we could find. It’s a bit tight…but it’s tight, yall. zoom-zoom.
Right now we still have a sedan, a Chrysler Sebring, which is nice and has a lot of room. But when it comes time to need a car to hold more kiddos, God willing, we’ll probably get a van since a SUV is usually too big for our garage.
