Tebow in Pro-Life Ad [Pro-Life, Nothing Else Makes Sense]
I saw a Facebook status that mentioned something about Tim Tebow and the Super Bowl ad that he and his mother are going to be featured in on Sunday, February 7th. The commercial has been funded by Focus on the Family and has an openly pro-life sentiment. Pam Tebow, when faced with a sickness/disease during pregnancy with Tim (her 5th child), was informed by her doctors to abort the pregnancy for fear of her death, or complications with the baby. Pam said no, and proceeded with the pregnancy, giving birth
to a boy who would grow up and become one of the most recognizable faces in college sports history.
Tebow won the Heisman trophy and a National Championship, and quite arguably, the accomplishments he has made off the field far outweigh his accomplishments on the field. However, regardless of what he’s done in life, he had the right to life while in the womb! Pro-Life makes sense, pro-abortion doesn’t. It simply doesn’t make sense.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the ad itself, but I have a news conference with Tebow’s response and also one man’s (Larry Murphy, I guess) take on the situation. (I disagree with the name-calling, but thought some of his quips were justified.)
Please stop calling abortion Pro-Choice. No one should have the choice to murder. Call it what it is, Pro-Abortion (Pro-Death).

Washington, D.C. (08 October 2009) – A British researcher has added to the growing body of evidence showing the link between the birth control pill and the rise of the effeminate heartthrob.
Dr. Alexandra Alvergne, of the University of Sheffield, says the hormones in the pill and other hormonal contraceptives suppress a woman’s interest in masculine men and make boyish men more attractive, reports the UK’s Daily Mail.
According to the theory, the Pill could contribute to the rising popularity of effeminate men in the last 40 years.
“We’ve gone from 1940s and 50s manly heroes Charlton Heston and Sean Connery to today’s baby-faced heartthrobs like Zac Efron and Johnny Depp,” said Katie Walker, American Life League’s communications director. “More reasons to never, ever go on the pill.”
The research confirms an August 2008 study from scientists at the University of Liverpool showing that “when the women started taking the pill, their preferences shifted towards the scent of men with more similar genes to their own.”
ALL’s project director for “The Pill Kills Day,” Marie Hahnenberg, reported on the potential hazards this places on relationships.
“There is mounting evidence that the pill can seriously disturb a woman’s healthy, natural tendency to be drawn toward a mate with different immune system genes. This, in turn, can lead to having a genetically similar mate, which increases the risk of infertility and miscarriages. It also means that the pill can change a woman’s love interest so much that she could end up in a relationship with someone to whom she normally wouldn’t be attracted.”
American Life League’s “Pill Kills” project is dedicated to exposing the hidden emotional and physical ramifications of the birth control pill. In August 2008, ALL’s Michael Hichborn also released a video reporting on the hormonal phenomenon of “Pill Googles.”
“While previous generations of women dreamt about rugged intellectuals carrying them off into the sunset, today’s women are expected to pine over break-dancers who own hair dryers and wear skinny jeans,” Walker said. “Give me Charlton Heston any day.”

A Month for Fathers

June is here. Father’s Day is coming up and I want to take this month to write frequently about fathers, about what a father should be and other topics that pertain to fatherhood. Today’s topic will cover a sensitive issue of abortion. Recently, we received the regular newsletter from our local Citizen’s For Life group. Inside contained some startling information about a father’s role in the abortion process. Here’s what it says:
FATHERS PLAY KEY ROLE IN ABORTION – from LifeLine, June 2009
A study published in the International ‘Journal of Mental Health & Addiction’ has found that the relationship between women and their partners and the level of support provided by the fathers are important factors in whether or not the woman aborts their baby.
The study sample was drawn from hospitals in 16 cities around the country, which had high numbers of births to unmarried women.
The final sample was of families already having one child. The study looked at the reasons women chose childbirth or abortion for their subsequent pregnancy, and examined the decision-making process in the context of her relationship with the father of the child.
No other research on abortion decision-making has taken the family context into account.
This is an especially important issue for our future consideration, since so many abortions are currently performed on women with other living children, implying the presence of the father of the children.
The results of the study indicated that the most important factors in determing the women’s choice to abort a second pregnancy were those associated with the father’s inability – or unwillingness – to provide assistance in rearing the first child.
It found that mothers who were married to the father were significantly more likely to deliver the baby.
The prevailing opinion that women abort because of poverty and financial considerations ran counter in this study. Mothers, instead, based their decision on whether they would be supported in their role as a mother by a father.
Study results support the idea that it requires both a committed mother and father to assure the choice to deliver and care for a child.
